Privacy Policy
Last updated: April 20, 2026
7Gen ("7Gen", "we", "us", or "our") is operated by 7 Generation Capital Inc., with offices at 3450 Rue St. Dominique, Montreal, Quebec H2X 2X4. This Privacy Policy describes how we handle personal information when you visit 7gen.com (the "Site"), submit a form, use our calculators, or otherwise interact with the Site.
This Privacy Policy is governed by Quebec's Act respecting the protection of personal information in the private sector ("Law 25") and Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act ("PIPEDA"). A separate master services agreement or lease agreement governs the relationship with 7Gen's customers; that agreement, not this Privacy Policy, governs personal information processed in connection with the services you purchase from us.

1. Personal information we collect
We collect only the information we need to operate the Site and respond to you.
Forms
When you submit a form on the Site (including our qualification form and our HubSpot-powered contact form), we collect the fields you fill in. Fields may include your first and last name, work email, phone number, company name, province or state, industry, job title, fleet size, and fleet vehicle type, along with any message you send. You are asked to confirm consent before submitting.
Analytics
When you browse the Site, we collect standard web analytics through Twilio Segment: pages viewed, time spent, referrer, device, browser, language, approximate location derived from your IP address, and any marketing-campaign parameters (such as UTM tags) present in the URL. We store first-touch campaign parameters in your browser's local storage for up to 30 days so that we can attribute a form submission to the campaign that brought you to the Site.
Cookies and local storage
We set one first-party cookie ('preferred-locale') that remembers your language choice for up to one year. We use your browser's local storage to hold first-touch marketing parameters (for up to 30 days) and session storage to hold last-touch marketing parameters (until you close your browser). Segment and HubSpot may set additional cookies when those scripts run.
We do not ask for and do not knowingly collect payment details, government identifiers, or sensitive categories such as health information. The fleet calculators on the Site run on inputs you enter and do not tie those inputs to an individual unless you later submit a form.
2. Why we collect it
We use the information described above to:
- respond to your inquiry and follow up by email or phone;
- determine whether 7Gen's services fit your fleet and route your inquiry to the appropriate team member;
- send service updates and, if you have opted in, marketing communications;
- measure marketing-campaign performance and understand how the Site is used;
- protect the Site against abuse, fraud, and security threats;
- comply with our legal obligations and enforce our agreements.
3. Who we share it with
We share personal information only with the following service providers, each of which acts on our behalf under a written data-processing agreement:
- HubSpot — CRM, contact forms, and email marketing. HubSpot processes the data you submit through our forms. Privacy statement: https://legal.hubspot.com/privacy-policy.
- Twilio Segment — analytics. Segment routes web-analytics events to our internal destinations. Privacy statement: https://www.twilio.com/en-us/legal/privacy.
- Cloudflare — hosting, content delivery, bot protection, and image storage. Cloudflare processes Site requests, IP addresses, and request logs. Privacy statement: https://www.cloudflare.com/privacypolicy/.
- Sanity — content management. Sanity hosts the editorial content shown on the Site (blog posts, page copy, images) and does not receive form data or visitor analytics. Privacy statement: https://www.sanity.io/legal/privacy.
A current list of sub-processors used by each of these providers is available from the links above.
We may also disclose personal information:
- if required by law, by court order, or by a lawful request from a regulator or law-enforcement authority; and
- if 7Gen is involved in a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, in which case personal information may be transferred to the counterparty subject to this Privacy Policy.
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with advertising networks for cross-site behavioural advertising.
4. Processing outside Quebec
7Gen processes personal information primarily in Canada and the United States. HubSpot, Segment, and Cloudflare are headquartered in the United States, and their sub-processors may process data in other jurisdictions. Before communicating personal information outside Quebec to a service provider, 7Gen conducts a privacy impact assessment under section 17 of Law 25 and enters into a written agreement that addresses the risks identified.
By submitting information through the Site, you acknowledge that your personal information may be processed in the United States, where it may be subject to access requests by U.S. government authorities under U.S. law.
5. Tracking technology and automated decisions
Identifying, locating, or profiling functions (Law 25, s. 8.1)
The Segment and HubSpot scripts used on the Site can identify a returning visitor (for example, by matching a form submission to earlier anonymous analytics events) and can infer approximate geolocation from IP address.
You can limit these functions by (a) using your browser's privacy or 'Do Not Track' settings, (b) using private-browsing mode, (c) installing a script-blocking or tracker-blocking extension, or (d) clearing cookies and local storage for 7gen.com.
Automated decisions (Law 25, s. 12.1)
7Gen does not make decisions about you based exclusively on automated processing of your personal information. Our fleet calculators produce informational estimates; they do not make decisions that have a legal or similarly significant effect on you. A human member of our team reviews each inquiry before we respond.
6. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only as long as we need it for the purposes described in this Privacy Policy, subject to legal retention requirements:
- Inquiry and lead data (fields you submit through forms): kept while the lead is active and for a reasonable period afterwards for record-keeping, not exceeding what Canadian tax and corporate-records rules require.
- Web-analytics events: retained in Segment according to Segment's default retention and our internal configuration.
- Language cookie: 1 year.
- First-touch marketing parameters: 30 days.
- Last-touch marketing parameters: until you close your browser.
When we no longer need personal information, we destroy or anonymize it in accordance with section 23 of Law 25 and the Regulation respecting the anonymization of personal information.
7. Security
We protect personal information with administrative, technical, and physical safeguards that are appropriate to its sensitivity. These include HTTPS for all Site traffic, encrypted storage by our service providers, access controls for employees and contractors who need to see personal information, and contractual safeguards in each processor's data-processing agreement. No method of transmission or storage is perfectly secure.
If a confidentiality incident puts personal information at risk of serious injury, we will notify affected individuals and the Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI) in accordance with sections 3.5 to 3.8 of Law 25.
8. Your rights
Under Law 25 and PIPEDA, you have rights with respect to your personal information:
- Right of access — confirm whether we hold personal information about you and obtain a copy.
- Right of rectification — correct inaccurate, incomplete, or ambiguous information.
- Right of erasure and de-indexing — request that we destroy or de-index information in the circumstances set out in Law 25.
- Right to data portability — receive the computerized personal information you provided to us in a structured, commonly used technological format.
- Right to withdraw consent — at any time, where we relied on your consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that was lawful before the withdrawal, and may mean we can no longer provide a service to you.
- Right to object to automated decisions — if we were to make an automated decision about you, you would have the right to submit observations and to ask a human to review the decision. As described in section 5, we do not make such decisions today.
To exercise any of these rights, contact our Privacy Officer at privacy@7gen.com. We will respond within the timeframes required by law (typically 30 days for an access or rectification request).
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may file a complaint:
- Quebec residents — Commission d'accès à l'information du Québec (CAI). Website: https://www.cai.gouv.qc.ca/. Phone: 1-888-528-7282.
- Residents of other Canadian provinces and territories — Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada (OPC). Website: https://www.priv.gc.ca/. Phone: 1-800-282-1376.
9. Children
The Site and 7Gen's services are directed to fleet operators and businesses, not to children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under the age of 14. If you believe we have inadvertently collected such information, please contact our Privacy Officer and we will delete it.
10. Changes to this Privacy Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices, service providers, or legal obligations. The "Last updated" date at the top of the Privacy Policy reflects the latest revision. Material changes will be highlighted on the Site when they take effect.
11. Language
This Privacy Policy is available in English and French. Under section 55 of the Charter of the French Language, the French and English versions are of equal effect for Quebec residents; if you identify any discrepancy between the two versions, please notify our Privacy Officer.
